Overview

GOGA in Saratoga, California, is a quietly charming neighborhood restaurant that blends Hawaiian flavors with classic American influences. Nestled at 14443 Big Basin Way, its unassuming location belies the richness of experience awaiting inside—a place where thoughtful culinary craftsmanship meets a warm, homey atmosphere.

Chef Bradley Turley, rooted in Bay Area sensibilities and seasoned with East Coast techniques, curates a menu that invites both familiarity and discovery. The standout GOGA Hawaiian Style Ahi Poke epitomizes this fusion: sushi-grade Ahi tuna, renowned for its buttery texture and vibrant hue, rests atop steamed white rice, perfectly balancing its bold, tangy marinade. This dish is a vibrant expression of island cuisine, suitable as an appetizer or a light meal, embodying freshness and precision.

The restaurant’s culinary range is broad yet focused, featuring items like Eggs Benedict variations, Tuna Carpaccio, and Blackened Rare Seared Tuna Tataki that highlight both technical finesse and diverse flavor profiles. The breakfast offerings particularly receive high praise, with dishes such as the American Wagyu Little Steak & Little Fries and innovative takes on classics like the Breakfast Taco and Island Style Haupia demonstrating a keen eye for quality ingredients and thoughtful combinations.

GOGA operates with a modest, family-run charm that lends intimacy but occasionally shows in service pace, a factor noted by some guests. However, those who appreciate genuine hospitality will find this a welcoming space where the chef often personally engages, creating a home-away-from-home vibe. The front-of-house similarly balances attentiveness with low-key service, preserving the relaxed island ambiance within the small dining space.

The duality of atmosphere at GOGA caters to a varied audience—from lovers of hearty brunches to diners seeking nuanced evening courses with a creative twist. This makes it ideal for anniversaries, casual dates, or simply exploring a refined yet approachable fusion of Hawaiian and American cuisine. The rotating weekly menu keeps the offerings fresh, ensuring regular visits reveal new tastes and inspirations tied to Chef Turley’s culinary journey.

While some dishes and portions have drawn mixed reactions, the overall consensus aligns on one point: GOGA is a hidden gem that successfully marries familiar comfort with island vibrancy. It’s a testament to how quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and genuine hospitality can elevate a neighborhood restaurant into a memorable dining destination.

The restaurant only offered a set menu, and while it’s a small family-run establishment with friendly owners, the food and service were slower than expected due to limited staff. The clam chowder soup was delicious, but unfortunately, the rest of the dishes didn’t live up to expectations. The beef portion was disappointing, as it was mostly fat and tendons with little actual meat, and the cut I received was already small to begin with. For dessert, I received a tiny slice, much smaller compared to what other customers were served.

Who needs a porterhouse! Chef Bradley Turley prepared a flavorful, thick-cut strip loin steak that looked and ate like a fork-tender filet mignon. The waygu most certainly helped too. ;-) He accommodated my dietary restrictions with the same skill and thoughtfulness by creating dishes similar to my spouse's. I.e., he didn't just omit ingredients. Frankly, we felt like we were dining at his home. Even on a busy night, he found time to greet us, offer us complementary soup (that btw was delicious), and elicit feedback. The server/hostess was quite charming and very attentive, but managed the front-of-the-house effortlessly. We had a great experience on our wedding anniversary. We'll be back for brunch soon to try the Asian fusion dishes presumably influenced by his work with Chef Roy Yamaguchi.

Very interesting place! First of all, the entrance is actually on the other side of the main street, so you’ll need to look for it—think of it as walking up your appetite, haha. When you step inside, the décor is super low-key, almost like a mom-and-pop spot. Brad (the chef) grew up in the Bay and spent some time in New York mentioned that they have a rotating weekly menu, with its subtle East Coast touch. A hidden gem worth visiting!

Had a cute little brunch date here today. A little hidden since the entrance is on the backside. The atmosphere is very low key and gives island vibe. Brunch menu is half typical American breakfast food and half Hawaiian. Very reasonable pricing. We got the burger and salmon benny. My partner said it was the best burger he’s ever had. Portion size is perfect for us since we always have leftovers at other places. Had a little chat with the chef before we left. Nice guy and lovely place. Will definitely be back to try their dinner!

We've been talking about trying Goga for a while now and am I glad we did! We were their first OpenTable reservation :) we showed up and did to a glitch they didn't have us on the books, but no worries at all.. they shifted some tables around and we were seated. This was a prefix menu, which made ordering super easy.. and much to our surprise.. such an amazing choices of flavors and textures. We started with a duck appetizer salad, followed by cod (OMG sooooo good) topped with lamb. Honestly, it was all made to perfection. There is a wine and beer menu available.. minimal choice. We were recommended pinot with dinner.. it was fine.. not amazing as the food. Dessert was simple and delicious!! I could've had two The staff were attentive enough (i.e. not annoying) and very nice. Our water was consistently filled, utensils changed between meals, etc. The ambiance of the restaurant is fine. Would be so much better with better, warmer lighting. Although the kitchen is semi open to the space, there wasn't too much noise nor smell to be distracting. Overall, gem of a find.. must try!! We'll be back for sure!!

So glad I picked this place to go to before a show at The Mountain Winery. Was very excited when we realized it’s a weekly rotating 4 course tasting menu. Any chance we can just sit down and a Chef treats us to their best we get excited. Across the board great flavors and textures. Our courses ranged from Scandinavian to Japanese to Italian and were all done very well. When each flavor compliments each other you can’t go wrong in my book. Throw in some textural contrast and you’ve got satisfying dishes every time. Can’t wait to visit again knowing that the menu changes weekly!
